Angry Birdday
Eeppppssss!!!!! Another Angry Bird cake! I was kinda bummed having to do another of this fowl-flinging cake and had to consult my children if there were any other designs in this game. Young Master asked if it was for a birthday and if it was, I should check-out the birthday level in my phone. There's a birthday level? Apparently, yes. The scene here was modelled after a more elaborate version in the game itself and the pigs has party hats on. There was also a cake and balloons for extra points. Looking at the picture now, I realised that I've forgotten to throw some blue (sugar) confetti on the 1.3kg Devil's Food Chocolate cake as in the game. Looks a little dull now....
A Jetsetter's 37th
My new favourite!! A vintage leather suitcase circa 1940s. It was requested to mark the 37th birthday of a jet-setter. This 3kg whopper (banana cake) was covered in chocolate fondant and I had much pleasure in replicating the Malaysian passport and Malaysia Airline's Golden Club boarding pass. Needless to say, I was a tad cross-eyed after that. When the suitcase was completed, I did the travel stickers-essential during those days of travelling. My favourite was the Paris sticker. Unfortunately, the close-up picture was shaky. Birthday boy's sis also requested for a replica of MAS's new A380. So, I did a miniature of that massive Airbus with MAS's new livery. I had a great experience on board SIA's A380 a couple of years back to Paris and I hope the birthday boy got a ticket on that inaugural flight to London in July!

RC Dude's 40th
Birthday dude Josh's girlfriend inquired if I could do a car cake. Well, I do have that very standard car pan if that's what she meant...and apparently, that was fine. THEN she sent me the pictures. "Oh, dear..." was all I could mutter to myself. It was an personalised RC car! RC-Remote Controlled. A very colourful one if I may add and it wasn't your standard beetle-looking car (as was my cake pan). I had pictures of all angles of that RC car's...shell. Yes, just the shell and I have no idea whatsoever, how the whole vehicle was suppose to look like. So, I Googled. It was a monster-truck-single-cab-4-WD-all-in-one kinda vehicle. Boy, have RC cars changed since my days.... Nonetheless, I was up for a challenge and dude's girlfriend was such a sweetie telling me not to stress too much about the car. Said she would have been very happy just to have this car cake look remotely like his and surprised him. Well, she doesn't know my middle name and I did the best I could. It was more tedious than I thought but I think it turned out okay....
Josh was obviously stoked when he received his girlfriend's surprise cake. He didn't have the heart to cut the car itself and served only the base cake to his mates! Awwwww!!! The picture above shows the cake and his real big brother. Now, if only Josh will commission me to do a birthday cake for his thoughtful girlfriend, I'd slip-in a (sugar) engagement ring ;-p

A Workaholic's Birthday
This 1.2kg Devil's Food Chocolate Cake speaks for itself doesn't it? This surprise birthday cake was for a 33-year old mum of two who's a workaholic and I thought, what could be more befitting a workaholic than a busy desk?! Having left the workforce 11 years ago, I was lost for a bit on what's on a desk these days...but went ahead making little files, folders AND a desk planner. The MOTH gently enlightened me that no one uses a desk planner anymore. Why of course!! They've got Blackberry now! Geez...but I kept it there anyway because it just.... fits. It belonged on a desk I used to work from.
Baby Shower
This Baby Shower cake was to coincide with the theme of having enough babies to make up a football team. I had intended to play along with a football theme but it was looking too much a bloke's birthday cake. It was after all, a baby shower for the mum-to-be and the tease was on mum (who's expecting her no.2 soon) to go forth and multiply! So, instead of a football I thought I'd do a bub's tushie. You know how babies sleep on their chest with their tush up? That's what I was aiming for.
It didn't turn out too bad, didn't it? I particularly love the feet...chubby enough to want to gnaw on it ;-) This Lemon Poppyseed Cake wasn't too big but the sugarpaste legs added some extra weight and it finished weighing 1.8kg. And no, I didn't forget the "2 down 9 to go" (11 in a team) theme. Made 9 baby faces and put them around the sides of the cake with the "next baby" in 2013 all the way to the last boy in 2021!! A baby a year??? I don't envy mum Julie.
