Taekwondo - Master Leong & Mrs Leong

Baked these for Young Master & Little Miss' Taekwondo instructors at school. The children earned their junior Yellow Belt last week and I thought it'll be a nice gesture for them to present their instructors something in return! It was also Teacher's Day week...

Tiara Cookies

14.05.2010

Tiaras in pink for a beautiful little girl's birthday. With these tiaras, I get to decorate them with all things sugar and nice..no waistlines to worry about!

These yummy sugar cookies with vanilla seeds were baked and decorated for a 29th birthday party as a thank-you favor. I decided to use 4 girly colours and stuck to 'blings' as simple tiara gems. Attaching those tiny sugar cachous individually were by no means simple. The first few were fun to do but the subsequent cookies had my eyes working harder than they've ever needed to! All were individually-packed till the wee hours past midnight...

Wedding Cookie Favors

Wedding cookies are now very popular in the US replacing the usual bon-bons and meringue kisses as favors. Most of the time, these are soft butter cookies because the light colour makes it easier to work with your wedding theme colours. Why soft cookies and not crunchy ones, you ask? Well, crunchy ones will soften once exposed and not kept in an airtight container. So the best bet is a cookie firm enough to hold its shape and soft to chew. Among the wedding cookie shapes I have are 3-tier cake, dress, bride, groom, church bells, twin-hearts, single heart and a couple of shapes that can be toyed around the wedding theme. Cookies are priced from RM4.50 each. Packaging is priced separately to be in line with your theme.

Cookie Cutters Galore!

Was re-organising my kitchen the past week (to make space for more newly-acquired baking"gadgets") and found little ziplocs of cookie cutters hidden all over the place! I didn't realise that I've amassed so many over the years - mainly Christmas-themed ones because that's pretty much when I use them most, for gingerbread cookies. The fact is, I love cookie cutters (only the metal ones). I keep buying them (just got another 8,) and they keep coming up with more!

So, I've made a pact with myself - store them visibly, keep them on my counter top and have them stare at me long enough to kick start my cookie baking! I've got some nice ideas on how to use them for different occasions, so keep checking in.

Errr..in case anyone's thinking of getting me cookie-cutters for Christmas, don't repeat any of these... ;-)
