Was re-organising my kitchen the past week (to make space for more newly-acquired baking"gadgets") and found little ziplocs of cookie cutters hidden all over the place! I didn't realise that I've amassed so many over the years - mainly Christmas-themed ones because that's pretty much when I use them most, for gingerbread cookies. The fact is, I love cookie cutters (only the metal ones). I keep buying them (just got another 8,) and they keep coming up with more!
So, I've made a pact with myself - store them visibly, keep them on my counter top and have them stare at me long enough to kick start my cookie baking! I've got some nice ideas on how to use them for different occasions, so keep checking in.
Errr..in case anyone's thinking of getting me cookie-cutters for Christmas, don't repeat any of these... ;-)

What's more fitting than a Treasure Chest for a pirate-treasure hunting theme party. This chocolate and vanilla layer cake (3.8kg) is covered in chocolate ganache and decorated with chocolate fingers and M&M's. The precious chest is "filled" to the brim with chocolate gold coins and gold bullions, much to the 6-year olds' delight!
Designed in line with the party's movie theme, this is a replica of a 50's popcorn bucket. Instead of a regular cake, I chose to bake a dark chocolate brownie fudge (complete with the soft-goey chocolate center!). This 3.7kg yummilicious was covered in fondant and topped with real popcorn.
The fabric which GEMMA was created from, was found amidst bales of shiny, over-the-top fabric. It stood out because of the shabby-chic effect it had on me. The colour of the thin stripes (shabby-) are of warm tones i.e. burnt orange, deep violet, sunset yellow. These colours are gently highlighted with a sheen (-chic) on the fabric. The GEMMA Foldover Clutch measures 10.5"(w) x 6"(h) and sewed intentionally for left-handers!! Or for those who hold their clutch with their left hand. Yes, yes... one of those days when I was specifically using my right brain.

The LAURA Slouch Bag is made from a medium-weight aqua blue fabric with designs of white leaves dotted in orange. With that, an orange lining was chosen to give the bag a refreshing lift. The Slouch Bag measures 11"(w) x 11"(h) x 2.5"(gusset) with a shoulder strap measuring 21" from end to end. It fits snugly under your arm.
